Marketing support for charities

I work with everyone from large local authorities to one-person businesses and charities. I have supported Leeds housing charity Latch with its marketing and PR activities for the last three years.

Latch has not historically focused on marketing although it did have a website, social media channels and brand guidelines in place. My work has involved developing a Marketing Strategy focused on increasing awareness of the charity’s work whilst making the most of the organisation’s small staff team and resources.

Key to the strategy has been up-skilling the Latch team and helping everyone to support social media and marketing activity. Also prioritisation and focusing on doing fewer things well. I’ve also been busy sourcing cost effective suppliers that can meet their needs for design, print and photography. Buying local, where possible, has been key to this.

The next phase of my work involves copywriting and design for a new range of promotional materials and the development of campaign kits to support a number of key events each year, the first of which is a new Community Share Issue, to be launched in the Summer. I’ve been working with a brilliant local photographer to commission a new suite of images showcasing the brilliant work that Latch undertakes transforming buildings into homes to give people a new start in life.

The work I am undertaking for Latch is a great example of the way I can work with any organisation. I can take on a stand alone project, such as developing a Marketing Strategy, and/or provide ongoing support and an extra pair of hands during busy periods. I can also support organisations that don’t have marketing support in place to review their needs and build up a team of internal or external people to deliver.
