Are you involved with a non profit, charity or community project? My new online course on 29 January 2026 (evening) will help you to get your story in the media without any budget or experience.

I will share tips from my day job – working in PR for over 30 years to help you go from PR Zero to PR Hero in 90 minutes.
We will cover:
– How to spot a good story/what the media are looking for
– How to tell your story in a press release or a pitch
– How to find journalists to tell your story to
– When to pitch your story/send your press release
– How to secure regular media coverage
– How to build your PR bank of stories and images
– Your PR questions answered
All participants will get a copy of my guide to writing a press release and some sample press releases.
I have over 30 years experience working in PR including working Leeds Action to Create Homes, Railway Mission, the North York Moors National Park Authority, National Railway Museum, National Trust, North Yorkshire Moors Railway and freelance for a wide range of environmental, small arts and culture organisations and charities.
I’ve secured coverage in everything from national BBC TV, Sky News, the Daily Mail, Telegraph, Guardian and regional and local titles including the Yorkshire Post, York Press and Hull Daily Mail.
There will be the chance to follow up the course with individual ‘power hours’ if you would like more tailored support and guidance.
